New Social Science: Some Reflections
The source of knowledge is no longer the Sacred Books, but Nature as an Open Book. The method of knowledge is no longer exegesis but experience and induction. In short, truth does not come from Revelation but from the world. Scriptural Arguments yielded to rational and experimental arguments. Articles of faith were subject to principles of Reason. “Les Anciens” lost and “Les Modernes” won. Therefore, the foundation of new social sciences at the beginning of European Modern Times was rightly justified and historically understandable.
